If we don't pay attention, who will?

Ever since that Maalaala Mo Kaya commercial about war veterans aired in ABS-CBN, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

There was just something about this issue that screams injustice, corruption and inequality. I researched about it on the net to feed my curiosity. Fair enough, I found an article about it.

It is greatly disturbing to see the senior citizens living abroad in poverty, but it is more troubling to know that they are not properly compensated for defending an entire nation and getting ignored in the process over the years.

This issue has been going around for, like, forever. If we don't pay attention, who will?
